Build Notes

Picking up where I left off, the next major task of this build is the scabbard. After cutting out the main outline from a sheet of cardboard I then traced out the silhouette of where the blade would be sheathed.

As I said previously, the blade has a small section along its upper side that juts up, so a clearance needs to be taken into account when doing the scabbard for such an irregular shape, in order to allow the blade to slide in and out with ease.

From there I then started hot gluing layer upon layer of cardboard to basically envelop the blade, keeping the entire body symmetrical by adding the same number of sheets to both sides of the original base, then topping off the two outermost faces with PVC sheeting.

Next step is to seal up all these exposed cardboard edges and do the bevel of the scabbard blade so do look forward to that.

Are any of the materials that you use in your tutorial dangerous? Like the bondo? I'm planning on making Gambol Shroud this summer with cardboard, PVC foam, and Balsa wood.
